Since 2015, dozens of elderly homeowners in Beijing fell victim to investment scams operating under the banner of “housing-for-pension” schemes, mortgaging their homes only to lose them. Entrusted by government authorities, Wu Jie led a team of public interest lawyers providing legal aid to the victims.
On March 20, 2017, CCTV’s Focus Report aired a feature titled “Seniors Beware: The Housing-for-Profit Trap.”
On June 30, 2018, CCTV’s Legal Report interviewed Wu Jie in an episode titled “A Scam Behind Notarization.”

China Youth Daily, Beijing TV’s Justice in Action and other national media provided sustained follow-up coverage.
People’s Daily profiled Wu Jie’s public interest work in a feature article titled “Gathered sparks become a lighthouse,” in recognition of her contribution to public interest law. (Link and images to be added)
